The Demographic Accident of 2001


The mapping affects 48 sites analysed in 2000-01.
Related to the demographic change between these two years, 4 categories of change were observed:
Sites where number in 2001 was higher than in 2000 (green dots)
Sites where number in 2001 was the same as in 2000 (blue disks)
Sites where number in 2001 was lower than in 2000 (red disks)
Sites where marmots disappeared in 2001 (black disks)

Results :
16 sites increased their number, with 36 animals more
6 sites had steady number
19 sites reduced their number, with 78 animals less
Marmottes totally disappeared in 7 sites

On the whole, marmot population loosed 39 individuals and its increasing rate falled to -17 %
